All the conditions were here for great studies

I am from the Republic of Guinea, and my story since I arrived in France presents a series of experiences that I am pleased to share with foreign students who want to continue their studies in France.

When I passed my masters' degree, I decided to go abroad to continue my law studies, because Guinean universities don't offer postgraduate trainings.

Like many young Africans, France was the best destination country for my studies. There are many reasons why. My ambition would spark a lot of hope and curiosity.

Despite the normal progress of my study project, my first steps in France were not easy. I discovered the cold in a very different social environment.

After the administration processes with various administrations, I started my studies in early September in a harsh cold. I had to leave early in the morning and come back at night. During the day, there was no sun. I was a little lost.

But all the conditions were here for great studies. All rooms were equipped with modern libraries. I would spend entire days at the university. I didn't think about employee work for a minute.

Luckily, I had a financial allowance to help me, and I was able to live happily without worrying too much for everything else.

At the end of my first year, I looked for a summer job. This helped me feel better financially while waiting for my allowance for my second year. Indeed, there is a strict legislation regarding labour law. Students are only allowed to work on an occasional basis.

I realized that around me, international students who have no resources have to manage studying and working at the same time because they don't have a choice to pay for a room, clothing, transports, food, etc. This situation may be difficult to succeed the first year.

In practical life, France is a country where culture is everywhere, where you meet people from different countries, a country of new and quality gastronomy. I had to process all this to live in harmony with French society.

I missed my family and African food sometimes, but luckily I found family members and made new friends here in France.
