Non-Ukrainian students displaced from Ukraine: resuming studies in France
Ukraine has been facing a war situation with Russia since 24 February. Millions of displaced people from Ukraine are seeking refuge in the European Union. France has taken measures to facilitate the reception of third-country students from Ukraine to support them in continuing their studies in France.
A circular from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research from5 July 2022 indicates the conditions for receiving third-country nationals present in France and displaced from Ukraine in French higher education institutions.
Resuming studies in France
Citizen students from third-countries displaced from Ukraine after 24 February 2022 and present in France are authorised to continue their studies here (excl. health studies). They must apply to a higher education institution directly.
In order for their application to be checked by a higher education institution, they must prove:
- Their registration in an Ukrainian higher education institution
- Their displacement from Ukraine since 24 February. They can use the temporary residence permit (“Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour”) delivered by the prefecture at their arrival in France. This permit is valid until 31 October 2022.
Other international students, non-displaced from Ukraine after 24 February 2022 must follow the normal steps of the application process to studies in France and of visa request from their country of origin.
