Financial Times’ European Business Schools Ranking: French schools in the leading group
The Financial Times European Business Schools Ranking 2023 was just released, and for the second consecutive year, French business schools are with the best in Europe: five French institutions are in the Top 10 of the British newspaper. Out of 90 institutions ranked, France is the most present country (23 schools), ahead of the United Kingdom (15), Germany (8) and Portugal (5).
It is with great satisfaction that France discovered the latest Financial Times’ ranking. The famous British finance and economy newspaper again put French institutions in good position. The 20th edition of European Business Schools Ranking is indeed designed using the results of European schools in five other Financial Times ranking published throughout 2023 and in which France showed its supremacy.
Five French schools in the Top 10
Spearhead of this new ranking, HEC Paris stays the most recompensed French business school. HEC, école des hautes commerciales de Paris, was created in 1881 and is now a world-class institution leading most rankings, and this one in particular since it is first since 2019.
The Top 10 of the European Business Schools Ranking 2023 also includes four additional French business schools in the same position:
- ESCP, École supérieure de commerce de Paris, founded in 1819, in 4th position;
- EDHEC, major business school created in the 20th century by entrepreneurs in the North of France, reaches the 7th position;
- ESSEC Business School, founded in 1907, found back the same position as in 2022 (9th position);
- emlyon Business School reached this year the 10th position, up two positions, letting France have five schools ranked in the Top 10.
23 institutions ranked are French
In total, out of 90 institutions in the ranking, 23 are French. Indeed, 6 more institutions follow in the Top 50:
- INSEAD (18th);
- Audencia Business School, which is this year the school registering the sharpest increase, up 13 positions to reach rank 25;
- Kedge Business School, is also up 10 positions (29th);
- Grenoble Ecole de management (33th);
- Neoma Business School (34th);
- TBS Education, former Toulouse Business School (46th).
Twelve additional institutions are present beyond the Top 50: Excelia (54th), IESEG School of Management (55th), Rennes School of Business (56th), ICN Business School (68th), Skema Business School (71th), Montpellier Business School (75th), Institut Mines-Télécom Business School (76th), ESSCA (80th), EM Normandie (84th), IAE Aix-Marseille (85th), ESC Clermont (86th) and ESDES Lyon Business School (87th).
