Success of the “Study in Europe” fair in Azerbaijan

As part of the “Study in Europe” project, Campus France has organised a European student fair on Sunday 2nd October 2022 at the Hilton hotel in Baku attracting 1,600 visitors.  Exhibitors said they were highly satisfied with the organisation of the fair, the number and quality of visitors.

As part of the “Study in Europe” project, Campus France has organised a European student fair on Sunday 2nd October 2022 at the Hilton hotel in Baku attracting 1,600 visitors.  The fair saw an Official Opening Ceremony in the presence of the head of EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko, the French ambassador to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education Sevinj Gasimova, and Georgiana Plesu, Policy Officer at the International Cooperation Unit, GD of Education and Culture of the European Commission.

22 exhibitors participated in the fair, and 10 European countries were represented (Germany, Belgium, Spain, Estonia, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Czech Republic and Sweden). The European Union Delegation in Azerbaijan and the Erasmus+ National Office also had a booth.

Exhibitors said they were highly satisfied with the organisation of the fair and the number and quality of visitors.

An institutional reception was organised the day before the fair in the presence of European ambassadors. The head of EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko, French ambassador to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross, and Head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education Tural Ahmadov, and Georgiana Plesu, Policy Officer at the International Cooperation Unit, GD of Education and Culture of the European Commission gave a welcome speech. The event attracted over a hundred people and put in relation European and Azerbaijani Higher Education and Research Institutions representatives to improve university cooperation.

The fair was at the heart of a promotion campaign, deployed mainly on social networks (Facebook and Instagram), but also as a distribution of brochures and posters in about 10 universities in Baku, radio announcements and web banners on about 10 local medias. The communication campaign was deployed in English and Azeri.

A fair in Georgia organised by the DAAD as part of the “Study in Europe” fair preceded the Azerbaijan fair. About 1,000 participants came to meet the 29 European exhibitors participating in the event.
