The French+Sciences programme launched its first sessions in June and July, and immediately met great success among international students. These 3-4 week short stays seek to bring value to the French technologic know-how and the excellence of scientific training courses. Sessions are mainly taught in English, and included a French as Foreign Language (FLE) course to help participants overcome the language barrier.
In this first edition, 39 international students (23 women) represented 11 nationalities and participated in one of the 3 sessions available this summer:
“Focus on Sustainable Development” - Montpellier
This sessions was organised by Accent Français from 30 May to 17 June and attracted 16 students from the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Uganda, Singapore and Japan.
“Micro, Nano & Smart Technologies for Industrial Applications” – Besançon
This stay organised by the CLA from 5 June to 2nd July attracted 11 students from the Republic of Macedonia, Jordan, Singapore and the United States.
“Sea Sciences and Technologies” – Brest
This session organised by CIEL Bretagne from 20 June to 8 August attracted 12 students from Norway, Jordan, Singapore, Estonia and Australia.
Most of these beginners in French language think about continuing to improve their language skill in FLE course after their stay, and several already planned to come back to France to attend a Master’s or Doctorate course. Most of them received a FLE scholarship granted by the French embassy or a company scholarship (Total Energies).
The French+Sciences programme is developed by Campus France in collaboration with FLE centres, the diplomatic posts and Campus France Offices. They offer the opportunity to English-speaking international students to attend short linguistic and scientific sessions in France in cutting edge technology fields. Some of the sessions allow the validation of ECTS credits.
Academic and logistic services are available to participants to the French+Sciences sessions: reception on the training course site, accommodation, training follow-up, training course assessment, and more.
