How to apply in France if you are a European student

European students follow the same processes as French students to register in a French higher education institution.

“European” students are students with a nationality from:
 

  • One of the 28 countries of the EU;
  • A country included in the EEA (EU + Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein)
  • Switzerland
  • Monaco or Andorra

 

How to apply in the first year of a training at Bachelor's (“Licence”)

European students wishing to join the French higher education system in 1st year of a training at Bachelor’s (“Licence”) level must apply on the “Parcoursup” platformThe application process is mandatory to apply to most of the trainings offered by higher education institutions.

Timetable of the Parcoursup process to join the higher education system in 2025/2026 : 

  • Opening of the platform: 18 December 2024
  • Start and complete your registration: 15 January - 13 March 2025
  • Complete your list of academic choices before: 2 April 2025 
  • Launch of the main admission phase: 2 June 2025
  • End of the main admission phase: 10 July 2025

How to register for a master's programme

European students wishing to register for a national Master's degree must apply via the Mon Master platform. It lists the national Master's degrees awarded by accredited higher education establishments, i.e. over 3,500 Master's degrees and 8,000 pathways to access them. 

 

Mon Master timetable for the year 2025/2026

  • Opening of the platform: 3 February 2025
  • Submission of applications: 25 February - 24 March 2025
  • Main admission phase: 2-16 June 2025
  • Complementary admission phase: 17 June - 17 July 2025

How to apply in Bachelor's (“Licence”) and PhD (“Doctorat”)

There is no specific procedure for enrolling in the 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor's or Doctorate degree. It is no longer necessary to obtain a visa. You must directly contact the institutes of higher education concerned to request enrolment.

Check the Campus France catalogues for the contact information for the institutes you are interested in. To improve your chance of being accepted, we recommend filing applications with at least three different institutes. Responses are generally sent to applicants between June 15th and September 15th.
